Gacher Blick viewpoint

From the Wilder Kaiser all the way to the Zugspitze

The “Gacher Blick” viewing platform lies just a few metres from the mountain station and the Wendelsteinhaus restaurant. The viewing platform totally justifies its name: the word “gach” is a Bavarian word meaning something like “serious, precipitous, steep”.

Nowhere else can you discern and puzzle over the 200 or so mountain ranges and summits in front of you – as the solution to the puzzle is provided for you!

A large panoramic photograph provides detailed information about the location and height of all the mountains that can be seen from here:

from the Chiemgau Alps to the impressively rugged Wilder Kaiser, from the snow-clad central Alps as far as the world-famous Grossglockner and Grossvenediger peaks. The view continues over the Zillertal Alps, the majestic peak of the Rofan on to the Karwendel and Wetterstein ranges including Germany’s highest massif, the Zugspitze.
