The Wendelsteinhaus was built on the Wendelstein between 1882 and 1883 some 100 metres below the summit. The first landlord, a Tyrolean man called Johann Krimbacher, served more than just tasty snacks for hungry mountaineers; he also introduced the Wendelsteinhaus’ much-acclaimed homeliness to the establishment.
Nowadays the family of Paul Müller and his friendly service team are the hosts of the Wendelsteinhaus and offer quality, freshness and regional produce to create unique gastronomic delights at an altitude of 1,724 metres. Please note the gastronomic Special events held in the Wendelsteinhaus.
Open daily all year around but please note the revised opening hours of the Wendelstein railway and cable car.

It’s just a short walk from the mountain station of the cog railway or the cable car to the Wendelsteinhaus. The mountain restaurant and viewing terrace are at ground level and are also accessible to people with physical disabilities.
